So, I’ve taken a day to digest this all and go through my grief cycle. Pros and cons have been weighed and emotions taken out of the equation to come up with the only logical reaction to such a devastating event for my favorite team:
HA HA! SUCK IT RED SOX NATION! NOW YOUR WORLD SERIES THAT MEANT SO MUCH TO YOU IS TAINTED LIKE A CHEAP QUINZEE WHORE!
Oh god! It’s so wonderful. Yeah, listen, I know my Doyers are now going to struggle to stay on top of their division for the first half of the season. I know the young hitters (especially Ethier) are going to see their stats dip a little bit. And that sucks. Especially for my fantasy teams.
But then I get to read stuff like this and imagine all the faces of all those bandwagon Boston fans that jumped on in ’04 during the World Series run. Oh how their pink hats and Kevin Millar jerseys will only serve as reminders that they are no better than Clemens/Giambi/Pettite/A Rod; all the people they pointed and laughed at as they got in trouble.
So, in conclusion, while I am sad that my Doyers will not be as dominant (expcept when My Boy KERSHAW!1! pitches) I can take refuge in the fact that you Massholes’ most prized possession has offically been shat upon.
