So I’m stuck here at work, crunching numbers, and My Boy KERSHAW!1! is on the hill. Travesty of travesties. So I’m going to be following along on line. And now you can too! (complete with homoerotic undertones!)
Dodgers actually get a couple runners on in the first but fail to score any runs in their half of the first. *sigh* Looks like it’s all up to Kershaw…again!
The first inning is sometimes the toughest for My Boy, so let’s hope he can get through it unscathed.
Good lord! Julio Lugo is hitting lead-off for the Cards? Tony LaRussa really is a mad scientist with that lineup. Is that why Torre continues to hit Kemp 8th, because he’s competing to Tony? It would be better than any other explanation we’ve heard to date (note: we haven’t heard an explanation to date). And as soon as I run my mouth, Lugo singles. FML.
After a DeRosa line out, it’s the match-up everyone’s been waiting for: Pujols vs. Kershaw. Aaaan Pujols with a single. Damnit, check his bat! Not to worry, KERSHAW!1! gets the next two to get out of the “jam”. Why do we use that term for a bad thing anyways? I love jam. It’s delicious. Anyway, here’s hoping for some run support.
Or not. Dodgers waste a lead-off single by Loney.
Boom! First Lembeck for Uncle Charles. What’s that, Yadier Molina? You don’t want to be left out of the slumber party? Well then get your Dick Tracy sleeping bag, you’re sleeping over at the Lembecks tonight! Ryan saves himself some ebarassment and quickly flies out to right to end the inning.
Still no run support. Not only is this bringing a tear to Kershaw’s gorgeous eyes, but it’s killing my fantasy team which is rife with Doyers.
Lembeck. Honestly, I’m a little disappointed that it took him that many pitches to strike out the opposing pitcher. It should have taken him only 2. There’s the Lugo we all know and loathe. Grounding out meekly to short, like he always does. Nice, 1-2-3 inning. Lot of first pitch strikes from Kershaw, which is probably what’s helped him retire 8 in a row. That and his dashing good looks and the best curveball on Earth!
There we go! That’s what I’m talking about! Blake with the triple then Loney singles him home. Am I crazy or should we just do that every freakin’ inning?! That seems like a better strategy than not doing it every inning.
Damnit, Pujols leads off the 4th with a double. Will someone please check that guy’s bat?! A Holliday walk and a Ludwick pop-up and we’re right in the middle of some delicious strawberry jam again. Oopsie, a little double play and we’re done with our delicious treat. Way to work out of it, Clayton! *blows kiss*
Another scoreless inning. And that’s it for my live blogging. I’m off the clock. But I feel like Kershaw has this one in the bag.
Right?
Yeah, totally…
